From Akkadian 𒈬𒅎𒈠 (šaddaqdim), from 𒈬 (šattum, “year”) + 𒂵𒀜𒈬𒌝 (qadmum, “early, before”).[1] Compare Hebrew אֶשְׁתָּקַד (eshtakád, ʾeštāqaḏ).
