Inherited from Prakrit 𑀅𑀯𑀭 (avara), from Sanskrit अपर (ápara, “other, different”). Cognate with Hindustani اَوْر (aur) / और (aur), Punjabi ਹੋਰ (hor) / ہور (hor).
