Inherited from Proto-Turkic *yürek (“heart”); cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (yüräk), Azerbaijani ürək, Bashkir йөрәк (yörək), Kazakh жүрек (jürek), Kyrgyz жүрөк (jürök), Turkmen ýürek, Uyghur يۈرەك (yürek), Uzbek yurak and Yakut сүрэх (süreq).
