Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀕𑀟𑁆𑀟𑀳 (gaḍḍaha), 𑀕𑀤𑁆𑀤𑀳 (gaddaha), from Sanskrit गर्दभ (gardabha). Compare Saraiki گَڈّاں (gaḍḍāṉ) / ڳَݙّا (g̈aḏḏā) and Sindhi گَڏَھُ (gaḏahu).
