From Sanskrit कालेय (kāleya). Compare Bhojpuri 𑂍𑂩𑂵𑂔𑂰 (karejā), Magahi 𑂍𑂩𑂵𑂔 (karej), Assamese কলিজা (koliza), Marathi काळीज (kāḷīj), Bengali কল্জে, কলিজা (kolje, kolija).
