کرایه • (kerâye) (plural کرایه‌ها (kerâye-hâ))

1. rent, fee for using another's property:
   1. fare (money paid for a transport ticket)

      کرایۀ اتوبوس ― kerâye-ye otobus ― bus fare

   2. rent (for buildings)

      کرایۀ هتل ― kerâye-ye hotel ― hotel price

      • c. 1060, Nāṣir-i Khusraw, Safarnāma [Book of Travels]‎:

        شنیدم که در قاهره و مصر هشت هزار سراست از آن سلطان که آن را به اجارت دهندد و هر ماه کرایه ستانند و همه به مراد مردم به ایشان دهند و از ایشان ستانند نه آن که بر کسی به نوعی به تکلیف کنند.

        šunīdam ki dar qāhira u misr hašt hazār sarā-st az ān-i sultān ki ān rā ba ijārat dahand u har māh kirāya sitānand u hama ba murād-i mardum ba ēšān dahand u az ēšān sitānand na ān ki bar kasē ba naw'ē ba taklīf kunand.

        I heard that in Cairo and Fustat, there are eight thousand buildings among the king's property which is leased out, with rent collected every month. They are all leased out and rent collected according to the wish of the people, without anyone being forced.
