From Middle Persian [script needed] (varzāvand, “of miraculous power”), itself from Middle Persian [script needed] (varz, “dignity, energy, miracle”), and also cognate with Avestan 𐬬𐬀𐬭𐬆𐬗𐬀𐬵 (varəcah).
