مازريون
Arabic
Alternative forms
- مَازَر (māzar)
Etymology
From Classical Persian مازریون (māzaryūn), whence also Turkish mezeryon, from ماز (māz, “oak gall”) + زریون (zaryūn, “green, fresh”, literally “gold-coloured”), a dvandva after the berries and leaves of the plant. The Persian is probably borrowed from another Iranian language because the second part of the compound is of restricted, literary use.
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /maː.zar.juːn/, /maː.za.ri.juːn/
