Etymology

From Arabic قَيْسارِيّة (Qaysāriyya) and Byzantine Greek Καισάρεια (Kaisáreia), from Latin Caesarea, from Caesar + -ēa (-ia: forming place names) on the pattern of Alexandrea etc. and in honor of the Roman emperor Augustus. Doublet of قیصری.
