Borrowed from Chagatai قىرغاۋۇل (qirghawul, pheasant) (compare Kazakh қырғауыл (qyrğauyl)), likely borrowed from Classical Mongolian [script needed] (girɣaul, ɣurɣuul) (whence Mongolian гургуул (gurguul)), from Middle Mongol [script needed] (xurqaʾul), from Proto-Mongolic *girgaxul.
