Etymology

The ending can be identified with the Mongolic plant name suffix ᠭᠠᠨᠠ (-ɣana) / -гана (-gana), however the rest is unexplained. Also found in Chagatai توتورغان (tuturğan), Old Turkic [script needed] (tuturkan) and Volga-Bulghar تتورغان (tuturğan, taturğan) (in نهج الفراديس). Now Mongolian тутарга (tutarga).
