Inherited from Old Punjabi ਸਨੇਹਾ (sanehā), from Prakrit 𑀲𑀁𑀤𑁂𑀲 / संदेस / ಸಂದೇಸ (saṃdesa) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit संदेश (saṃdeśa). Doublet of سَنْدیْش (sandeś). Compare Saraiki سینہا (senhā).
