From Mazanderani توسکا (tuskā), تسکا (teskā), توسا (tusā), تسا (tosā, “alder”). Apparently ultimately Mongolic, Mongolian хус (xus, “birch”), with the ending ـا (-â) as in many Mongolic nouns auslauting in -аа (-aa); correspondingly, Persian قان (qân, “birch”) is from Turkic.
