Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ūčuŕ (“cheap”), from *ōču- (“to get smaller”); cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (učuz), Azerbaijani ucuz, Bashkir осһоҙ (oshoź), Karakhanid اُجُزْ (učuz), Tatar очсыз (oçsız) and Turkmen ujyz.
