Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ūčuŕ (cheap), from *ōču- (to get smaller); cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (učuz), Azerbaijani ucuz, Bashkir осһоҙ (oshoź), Karakhanid اُجُزْ (učuz), Tatar очсыз (oçsız) and Turkmen ujyz.
