- (transitive) to give life to, to vivify, to quicken, to vitalize; to bring to life, to animate
- Antonym: أَمَاتَ (ʔamāta, “to end the life of; to disanimate; to kill; to deaden”)
- 609–632 CE, Qur'an, 2:28:
- كَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَكُنتُمْ أَمْوَاتًا فَأَحْيَاكُمْ ۖ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
- How do you disbelieve in Allah when He animated you when were inanimate and [when it is He who] shall disanimate you then reanimate you and to Him, you shall be returned?
