From Ottoman Turkish قالیق (qalyq), via a Slavic language (Ukrainian калі́ка (kalíka) or Polish kalika).

  1. a cripple, an injured or paralyzed person
  2. (derogatory) a clumsy person
  3. (derogatory) a stupid or ignorant person, someone who doesn't think of other people, or the consequences of his or her actions
