Most likely Belarusian го́йдаць (hójdacʹ) and/or Ukrainian гойда́ти (hojdáty) + ־ען (-en), apparently of onomatopoeic origin. Compare also Slovak hojdať (to rock, to swing). Semantically, borrowed from Ukrainian гойда́тися (hojdátysja).
