Etymology

From the root ג־מ־ל (g-m-l), in the qatélet pattern usually forming nouns relating to diseases but not always ((e.g. טַיֶּסֶת (tayéset, squadron), שַׁלֶּכֶת (shalékhet, fall (autumn leaves)) and צַנֶּרֶת (tsanéret, pipeline)) and not in this case.
