Emphatic state of אוֹרָיָא, derived from the verb אוֹרִי, analysable as the aph‘el (אַפְעֵל) verbal pattern of יְרִי. Ultimately derived from Proto-West Semitic *waraw- (“to throw, cast, lead, guide”). Cognate with Hebrew תּוֹרָה (torá).
