Old Armenian

Etymology

Probably a post-classical development of տապք (tapkʻ), the plural of տապ (tap). For the sound changes compare չափք (čʻapʻkʻ)Middle Armenian չաք (čʻakʻ), թամբք (tʻambkʻ)Middle Armenian թամք (tʻamkʻ).[1] Because some of the attestations are from classical works, Ačaṙean assumes a corruption of the texts by later copyists.
