Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *ḱul- + -ան- (-an-). Cognate with Albanian sulem (to attack) and perhaps Russian слать (slatʹ, to send).

  1. to soar, to take a lofty flight, to fly high
  2. to rush, to dart, to rush on, upon or down
    սլացեալ աստղslacʻeal astłfalling star
