Etymology

From Middle Armenian յունապ (yunap), from Arabic عُنَّاب (ʕunnāb). Constantinople հո̈ւննաբ (hünnab) and Diyarbakir ՙուննաբ (ʻunnab) are new borrowings from Turkish and Arabic respectively.
