Etymology

Borrowed from early Parthian: compare Manichaean Parthian 𐫖𐫃𐫁𐫏𐫅 (mgbyd /⁠maγbed⁠/), Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (mgwpt' /⁠mowbed⁠/), Persian موبد (mowbed, mubed, mobad). Doublet of մովպետան մովպետ (movpetan movpet) and մուբիտան մուբիտ (mubitan mubit). Equivalent to մոգ (mog) + պետ (pet).
