Compare Sanskrit गोधा (godhā́, Iguana, a species of big lizard, literally cow milker/sucker), Northern Kurdish bizinmij (monitor lizard, literally goat sucker). The semantics are based on some folk-belief. Later replaced by կովածուծ (kovacuc).
