Etymology
An Iranian borrowing: compare Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (kpyc, “a grain measure”).[1][2][3][4][5] See Arabic قَفِيز (qafīz) for more.
In the dialects survives in Moks կապաիճ (kapaič, “unit of measure equal to 5–6 kilograms”),[6] Mush կապեճ (kapeč, “hay of grass and wheat”),[7] Hamshen կապճակ (kapčak, “tithe of wheat given to miller”) and կապիծ (kapic), the latter a borrowing from Laz კაპიწი (ǩap̌iǯi).[2]
