The Proto-Turkic word for the bride price *kalïŋ, Tuvan калым (kalım), Southern Altai калым (kalïm), Yakut халыым (qalıım), Chuvash калым, холым (kalym, holym), Tatar калым (qalım), Chagatai قالن / قالین (калын, kalın), Turkish kalın, and many more, passed also into Russian калы́м (kalým), Northern Kurdish qelen.
