Martirosyan connects it with Hittite 𒇷𒅖𒅆𒅀𒆷 (li-iš-ši-ya-la /⁠liššiyala-⁠/, liver-related), derived from Hittite 𒍜𒃻𒈪 (UZUNIG2.GIG /⁠lišši⁠/), 𒇷𒂊𒅆 (le-e-ši /⁠leš(š)i⁠/, liver), which itself has an obscure etymology.[1][2]
