Etymology

Borrowed from Northern Kurdish biste, bisteh (“sure, hopeful, bold; openly, boldly”) recorded by Orbeli in Moks, which is cognate with the synonymous Central Kurdish بِستە (biste) and Persian گستاخ (gostâx, “brash”). Thus, a doublet of վստահ (vstah) and վստա (vsta).
