Etymology

Possibly from the supposed root *արգ- (*arg-, belly, intestines), from Proto-Indo-European *arkʷ-, for which see արգանդ (argand), and -ա- (-a-) + հատ- (hat-, to cut); for similar formations compare աղեխարշ (ałexarš), աղեկէզ (ałekēz), աղիողորմ (ałiołorm), աղեխորով (ałexorov).[1][2]
