From the Northwestern Middle Iranian cognate of Middle Persian plʾsy̲d̲ʾp̄' (Frāsiyāb), plʾsyʾk' (Frāsiyāg), Persian افراسیاب (afrâsiyâb).
Usage notes
The nominative *Հրասեակ (*Hraseak) is unattested. It is reconstructed from the toponym Հրասեկայ բերդ (Hrasekay berd, “Hrase[a]k's fortress”).
