Old Armenian
Etymology
Originally borrowed in the fourth century from the Greek form of Classical Syriac ܐܒܐ (ʾăḇāʾ), whence also Աբա (Aba). Later revived in the ninth century, but this time, according to Ačaṙyan, borrowed from Arabic عَبَّاس (ʕabbās). Rarely used since the 13th century.
