From *yaŋïlïš (“wrong, false, erroneous”), from Proto-Turkic *yaŋɨl- (“to err, be wrong, make a mistake”).[1]
Cognate with Tatar ялгыш (yalgış), Kazakh жаңылыс (jañylys), Kyrgyz жаңылыш (jaŋılış), Kumyk янгылыш (yañılış), Uzbek yanglish, Turkmen ýalňyş, Crimean Tatar yañlış, Turkish yanlış (“false, wrong”), etc.
