From *yaŋïlïš (wrong, false, erroneous), from Proto-Turkic *yaŋɨl- (to err, be wrong, make a mistake).[1]

Cognate with Tatar ялгыш (yalgış), Kazakh жаңылыс (jañylys), Kyrgyz жаңылыш (jaŋılış), Kumyk янгылыш (yañılış), Uzbek yanglish, Turkmen ýalňyş, Crimean Tatar yañlış, Turkish yanlış (false, wrong), etc.
