Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (jazuq, “sin, wrongdoing”); Tatar язык (yazıq), Kazakh жазық (jazyq), Kyrgyz жазык (jazık), Southern Altai јазык (ǰazïk), Uzbek yoziq, Khakas чазых (çazıx), Turkmen ýazyk (“sin, wrongdoing”), Turkish yazık (“pity, regret”).
