Apparently related to Latin Iūdaea, the Latin name for the Israelite tribe of Judah. (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)

This term is not used to refer to Jews today; rather, евреин (evrein) or, for females, еврейка (evrejka) is used instead.
