Etymology
first-person singular present progressive of ханх (xanx).
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /χanʲ.d͡ʑaˈnaw/
Usage notes
- According to some speakers, it is not customary for Kalmyks to express gratitude in everyday life; instead, a well-wish called йөрәл (yöräl) is used to express profound appreciation.
- Sometimes, байрлҗанав (bayrljanav) is used instead by some speakers, on the basis that the verb ханх (xanx) can also mean "to express gratitude after sexual intercourse".
