халосен

Bulgarian

Etymology

Standardized colloquial form of an earlier ха́лостен (hálosten), derived from Russian холосто́й (xolostój, idle, blank).

The native pronunciation has been probably levelled to resemble inherited ха́лост (hálost, vanity, futility). In Russian, the stress is on the suffix (rather than on the root).
