Etymology

Follows the “mumbling” pattern *CьC-R-iti (duplicated 0-grade root + resonant or liquid + i-conj.), found in analogous пъпля (pǎplja), бъбля (bǎblja), мъмря (mǎmrja), etc. Basal phoneme /f/ due to the characteristic devoicing of /v/ caused by lisping.
