туҙан
Bashkir
Etymology
From *tozañ (“dust; pollen; that which disperses in the air”), from Common Turkic *tōzan, from the verbal stem Common Turkic *tōz- (“to disperse in the air; get scattered”), parallel to the noun stem *tōz (“dust”).
Compare to Tatar тузан (tuzan, “dust”), Kazakh тозаң (tozañ, “dust; pollen”), Uzbek to'zon (“dust”), Uyghur توزاڭ (tozang, “dust; pollen”), Turkmen tozan (“dust”).
Compare also the terms in Siberian Turkic languages derived from a different archetype from the same verbal stem: Southern Altai тозын (tozïn, “dust”), Khakas тозын (tozın, “dust”), Tuvan доозун (doozun, “dust”).
