скръндза
Bulgarian
Etymology
Per Mladenov (favoured by BER, but considered with reservations by Vasmer), probably related to Bulgarian скре́жав (skréžav, “stingy”), Russian скря́га (skrjága, “cheapskate”), presumably from hypothetical Proto-Slavic *skręga. Superficially, could also reflect скърна́ (skǎrná, “disgrace”) + -за (-za).
