From Proto-Slavic *pьršьjь. Equivalent to пърх (pǎrh, “dust, fine powder”) (dialectal) + -ей (-ej). A doublet of dialectal пъ́ршай (pǎ́ršaj) (from Proto-Slavic *pьršajь).
