Inherited from Proto-Slavic *obzorъ. By surface analysis, deverbal from обозре́ть (obozrétʹ), with typical Indo-European nominal o-vocalism (compare набо́р (nabór) and набра́ть (nabrátʹ), the latter with future tense наберу́ (naberú) etc. showing typical Indo-European present/future verbal e-vocalism).
