Etymology
Inherited from Old East Slavic нѣту (nětu) and нѣтъ (nětŭ). From older *не ѥ ту (it is not here), where ту (тут, also colloquial не́туть (nétutĭ)), was originally an ethical dative (-ть (-tĭ), dative -ти (-ti)).
