Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Turkic *kȫkerčin (“dove, pigeon”),[1] equivalent to кӑвакар (kăvak̬ar, “to become blue”) + -чӑн (-čăn).
Cognate with Khalaj kö̂kərçik, Turkish güvercin, Bashkir күгәрсен (kügərsen) and Tuvan көгээзин (kögeezin).
