Etymology

Borrowed from Polish kryształ, ultimately from Byzantine Greek κρουστάλλιον (kroustállion), a diminutive form of κρούσταλλον (kroústallon), a variant of Byzantine Greek κρύσταλλον (krústallon), both ultimately from Ancient Greek κρύσταλλος (krústallos). Compare Greek κρούσταλλο (kroústallo).
