кирда
Erzya
Etymology
From Proto-Mordvinic *kirda, ultimately borrowed from Proto-Baltic *kerdā; compare Latvian kārta (“layer; turn”). Possibly via Proto-Finno-Volgaic *kerta, whence Proto-Finnic *kërta (“time, occasion”).
Sometimes also parsed as a doublet of Erzya кортамс (kortams, “to talk”); compare Finnish kertoa (“to tell”).
