Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish بوزطوغان (bozdoğan, “iron war-mace”). Cognate with Macedonian боздоган (bozdogan, “mace”), Hungarian buzogány (“mace”), Polish buzdygan (“mace”), Romanian buzdugan (“mace”), Serbo-Croatian буздован (“mace”), etc.
