From *aqsaq "lame, limping", from Proto-Turkic *agsa- (“to limp, be lame”).
Cognate with Tatar аксак (aqsaq), Bashkir аҡһаҡ (aqhaq), Kyrgyz аксак (aksak), Uzbek oqsoq, Uyghur ئاخساق (axsaq)/ئاسقاق (asqaq), Turkmen agsak (“lame”), etc.
