Etymology

From λυσι- (lusi-, loosing, releasing), from λύω (lúō) + -τελής (-telḗs), from τέλος (télos, end, completion; here: dues). A contraction of the phrase τέλη n pl (télē) λύειν (lúein) («λύειν τέλη», "pay one's dues"), hence, I become advantageous.[1]
