Etymology

Traditionally derived from λύγξ (lúnx, lynx) + οὖρον (oûron, urine), as the stone was thought to be the urine of the lynx. However, the presence of the word λογούριον (logoúrion, glass) rather shows that this is a Pre-Greek word.
