κάννα
Ancient Greek
Etymology
Borrowed from Akkadian 𒂵𒉡𒌑𒌝 (qanûm, “reed”), whence also Mycenaean Greek 𐀒𐀜𐀛𐀠 (ko-no-ni-pi /konōni-pʰi/). There are indications, according to Beekes, it may have come through Pre-Greek.
